Most golfers don’t even consider the purchasing of their own golf cart, content instead to rent carts from the course when necessary, despite the many incentives to do so. With the increasing ownership of golf carts worldwide, it’s now easier than ever to find used carts for sale, and this should help convince many golfers to take the plunge into golf cart ownership.

Before looking for a cart, you should first decide on whether to go with an electric or gas golf cart, and your choice will determine the general age range you can consider for your cart. Electric carts after all have a much longer life span than gas carts, affording you the ability to purchase a 15 or 20 year old electric cart if you wish. Gas carts on the other hand would likely be on their last legs by that point, and could need costly maintenance to keep them road (or rather course) worthy.

There are other subtle differences between the two cart varieties. Top speed favors electric carts as well, while gas carts are typically capped. Electric carts are also good for the environment. On the other hand, gas carts can be driven for much greater stretches of time before needing a refuel, while electric carts are limited in the distance they can travel, even on a full battery charge. For those who live some distance from their preferred course and plan to drive there in their cart, a gas cart may be a necessity. Electric carts run quietly, while gas carts can make a healthy dose of noise depending on their condition, so this may be yet another factor to consider when one takes into account the usual quiet and solitude found on the golf course.

As you can see there are many facets to consider before even choosing which style of used golf cart to purchase. Next will be the task of actually scanning through the used golf carts for sale and finding the one that fits your needs. The majority of major retailers will not sell used carts, so your best bet on this front will be to shop online, or search local and online classifieds for used golf carts. Another possibility is to ask around at your local golf courses, as they may occasionally update their stable of carts and sell or auction off the existing ones. This could be a great way to find a real bargain.

There are many things you’ll need to consider when deciding which used carts available offer the best value. Certainly the age of the cart should be a prime factor, but in addition to that there are also the accessories that come with the cart, as well as the cart make and brand. Also of importance is the inclusion of a warranty, which you should get when purchasing from any reputable site. If the cart is sold ‘as is’ you may want to consider another cart. Ideally, you should test drive any model if possible to get a general feel for how it drives and handles.

For avid golfers, owning your own cart and the many possibilities this opens up for you, is becoming an increasingly popular alternatively to constant rentals. With the used golf cart market burgeoning, it’s a better time than ever to get in on the action and add a used golf cart to your golfing repertoire.

There are some things that on the surface, just don’t seem to mix, yet somehow do. Peanut butter and chocolate is always the one that amazes me the most, and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups continue to be my favorite guilty pleasure snack despite the odd pairing. On the scale of odd pairings though, the Harley Davidson Company and golf would also have to be pretty close to the top.

After all, on the one hand we have a company universally known for creating motorcycles, iconically driven by pot-bellied, bearded, gruff bikers with chains dangling from their jeans and a headband wrapped around their thinning hair. On the other hand we have golf, the gentlemen’s sport, and one which until recently was seen as the pastime of the more educated and refined among us.

Yet in 1963, this strange fusion did indeed occur. Harley Davidson was battling to branch out from its typical roots and attain a new image as it got battered in the press and entertainment industry for supposedly catering to gangs and hoodlums. The stark contrast that golf represented image-wise was exactly what Harley Davidson needed, hence the strange partnership.

A few years later they sold their golf cart operations to AMF, who would later sell them to Columbia Par Car. These companies continued to produce Harley Davidson golf carts until 1995. With the carts no longer being produced, but interest in them still being exceptionally high, there is a thriving community online dealing with the upkeep and maintenance of these golf carts.

The carts came in a variety of styles over the years, from the outlandish which you would typically associate with the brand, to styles very much traditional with golf cart designs of the time in question. Carts came in both gas and electric models.

Tracking down and purchasing one of these classic golf carts is not easy, but it’s certainly possible. If you’re a big enough enthusiast of both golf and Harley Davidson to make the venture worthwhile, it’s definitely worth looking into.

The usual online routes for tracking down rare items apply in this case as well, making auction sites and other classified sites your best friend. These avenues are also worthwhile for tracking down necessary parts which may be needed now or in the future for maintenance.

Another viable option is to deal with a golf cart parts website. These sites not only have broad selections of parts, but also feature robust classified listings of users selling both carts and parts, as well as looking to buy the same. These sites are a more certain way of tracking down something you’d like to buy or sell.

If you’re a golfer who has a soft spot for Harley Davidson, and love puttering around in a golf cart, searching for one of these classic golf carts would be highly recommended. It’s an intriguing reminder of the past, of a time when our perceptions of Harley Davidson, bikers, and golfers, was quite different than it is now.

Many golfers deal with conflicting emotions when preparing for a round of golf. They may prefer to walk the course like the game was intended to be played, but may not physically be able to tote around a heavy golf bag all day. In other instances, players who would rather use carts may be stuck on their own two feet at courses which don’t allow carts (more common in Great Britain than in North America).

For either of these situations there’s the golf trolley, an ideal compromise for those who would prefer to walk the course without the burden of carrying their heavy golf bag around. Trolley’s come in two standard varieties, the manual and electric trolley. Manual trolleys can come in either 2 or 3 wheel varieties. The 2 wheelers are intended to be pulled behind the player, while the 3 wheel varieties may be pushed or pulled.

When it comes to even greater trolley convenience though, nothing beats the electric trolley. It really is the perfect way to enjoy the golfing experience. You’re walking along and enjoying nature, while not having to be distracted by carrying or pulling your golf bag. That’s not to say electric trolleys will drive themselves around, but you get the idea.

Electric trolleys are 3 wheel models, and look very similar to manual 3 wheel trolleys, save for the electric battery resting in the middle of the trolley’s framework. It’s this golf trolley battery that we’ll be discussing for the rest of the article, as the trolley battery is probably the most important consideration when purchasing an electric trolley.

The trolley itself has a few design aspects which should be considered, namely the materials used to construct it, be it aluminum (lightweight but weak), steel (stronger and heavier than aluminum), or titanium (the strongest, but also most expensive material used in trolley construction). The last major consideration concerning the trolley itself is how the trolley is controlled. Some models have a simple on/off switch, and the trolley always travels at a preset speed. Others will have variable speeds to match the golfer’s walking speed, and help guide it over uneven terrain. Lastly, some trolleys even come with remote control devices which can be used to easily move the trolley around in the desired direction and speed.

When it comes to the battery though, there are two major considerations. How long does it last for, and how heavy is it? Starting with the latter, batteries are often quite heavy, and as you’ll be forced to constantly remove and charge up the battery, its weight may be an important factor. Regarding the former, you want to be certain that your battery will get you through even the longest day on the course. The absolute worst possible scenario would be to have your battery run out, forcing you to manually lug around your trolley which is packing extra weight because of the battery itself. The difference in price between shorter and longer lasting batteries is not immense, so it’s definitely recommended you purchase the best battery you can, taking into consideration your ability to get your trolley around in the event it did run out of power.

Don’t be left stranded on the course with a dead battery. Find a trolley battery that has the power you’ll need to get you through your typical rounds without fail, and enjoy your time spent on the course without worrying about the state of your trolley battery.

If there’s one thing people love to do, it’s tinker with the things they own and make them unique. Whether it be jail breaking their mobile phones and downloading custom applications to them, souping up their car with rare or custom parts, or building the ultimate home theatre system from a wide gamut of different products. Consider it our desire to stand out from the pack, and not follow conventions or typical standards put in place by society.

Well this same flair for creativity and passion for taking things to new heights (both figuratively, and in this case, literally), has come to the golfing world. While golf has always featured some level of customizability in the sense that golf clubs can be tailor fitted and designed with a specific person in mind, and many golfers love to mark their balls with unique designs to help them identify them in the case of multiple balls being present in one area, the golfing world has never seen anything quite like golf cart lift kits.

These lift kits can be used to raise the undercarriage of your golf cart further off the ground, allowing for the removal of the existing, plain tires, and the addition of larger, more robust and stylish tires. Far from simply being a visual upgrade, there are several practical and functional reasons for using a golf cart lift kit.

Most notably, the wider offset of the new tires, as well as the tires themselves being larger and wider, provides added stability while riding in your cart, particularly at higher speeds. In addition, the larger tires are much better suited to travel offer rougher or more uneven terrains. Being higher up in your cart and having a better view of the surrounding area and terrain could also provide advantages while playing a course.

Of course, the visual appeal is just as important as the practical applications for many. For those who play golf and use their cart regularly, they can become just as attached to it as people are want to be with other similar products such as bikes or cars. The fancy visual upgrade makes their cart stand out from the pack and certainly makes the owner appear to be serious about his or her golf.

As mentioned, the larger and wider tires must be further offset from the cart to prevent any contact with the cart’s base while turning. This is the one major consideration which must be taken into account when purchasing a lift kit. As lift kits are not cheap, you’ll want to make sure that the kit will work with your particular cart, and that the intended size of wheel will also function well with the combination of cart and kit.

Lastly, depending on your level of technical expertise, you’ll probably want to ensure that your kit of choice won’t require any welding or metal cutting. Most of the newer kits on the market don’t, but some way, which could force you to have the kit professionally installed. In most other cases you should have no trouble installing your lift kit and replacing the tires yourself.

A golf buggy as it’s commonly called in the U.K (otherwise known as a golf car or golf cart), is the perfect way to get around the course when walking is either too much of a burden, or time is of the essence. Actually owning your own golf buggy can also provide several benefits, as well as afford you the option to upgrade and outfit it in numerous ways.

The most notable topic of discussion concerning buggies is their price. After all, most courses have their own buggies for rent, so if it simply doesn’t make sense financially, there doesn’t seem to be much purpose to get your own golf buggy. The answer of course will depend on how often you golf, and how often you use a cart, as well as the amount of money you’re willing to spend on a cart. Beyond just the purchasing of a buggy for financial reasons though, owning your own buggy allows you to customize it any way you see fit, which is the big draw for buggy owners.

There are numerous additions that can be added to just about any electric golf buggy. Firstly, the buggy can be raised and outfitted with larger tires. This has several uses, providing a more stable ride at high speeds and in particular over rough terrains. The higher vantage point also affords golfers a better view of the layout and terrain of the course.

Next, your buggy can be outfitted with many different add-ons, such as coolers to store food or beverages, additional seating so larger parties can use just a single buggy, heavy duty shocks for ever greater stability while driving, windshields to prevent an increase in protein intake from bugs flying into your mouth, roofs and tarps to help prevent you from getting soaked during unpleasant weather (of course actually getting out and hitting your ball will be another story), and much more.

You can truly customize and build a golf buggy that you’ll not only be proud to own, but one which you’ll look forward to taking out on the course and scooting around in. When speaking specifically of electric buggies, there are also several advantages over gas buggies. For one, you’ll be doing your small part to protect the environment, an increasingly important topic throughout the world. Electric carts typically have higher top speeds than gas carts, so if you like moving around the course quickly, and especially if you plan to take your cart out on the roads (where it’s legal to do so), electric buggies will suit your needs.

Lastly, you don’t need to worry about the constant maintenance and servicing of gas engines, as well as having to purchase the gas itself. You’ll have to replace the battery every five or so years which will amount in a larger onetime fee, but on the whole you’ll be saving both time and aggravation with an electric buggy.

If you love golf, and routinely use a buggy to get around the course, having your own personalized electric buggy is something you should certainly look into. It comes with numerous benefits, and may even save you money in the long run as well.

ValleyCarts.com is the website for Valley View golf carts. They offer a wide variety of sales, parts, services, accessories and rentals, but what does their website have to offer and is this a good place to start looking for your golf cart?

Contact information

The contact telephone number forms part of the banner header which is a nice touch, and there is also a clear link along the top for you to send them an email. However, other than this, they are a bit cagey as to exactly where they are based. They do not offer a depot address, and hidden on the about us page they offer information about their local area, which includes Winchester, Harrisonburg, Staunton, Waynesboro, Charlottesville, and Lexington. However, they give the impression that they clearly prefer you to access them remotely, offering to pick up and drop off carts for repair, and deliver new carts to your home, even when you are not in the local area.

Selection of Carts

ValleyCarts.com has an excellent selection of carts and for your convenience you can choose to search on price, those over $3000 and those under, and before you can get further you have to choose whether you want to see gas powered carts or electric powered carts. It would have been nice to see a slightly wider search tool, as maybe you would want to compare a couple of products, or maybe want to look at a gas and electric model side by side. However, when you have decided which limited category you are going to look in, you then get a grid format which has a tiny picture, the year of manufacture, the price, and a short line highlighting features. You can then select the cart that interests you most, whereupon you are taken to a full product page showing limited information, the shipping calculator and several pictures of the cart.

Prices Are Okay

The prices seem about right in terms of what you get. The older models have been discounted appropriately, and the newer carts do not seem over the odds. Having a wide selection of prices on offer from $1695 for the cheapest gas cart and $2350 on a special offer in the cheapest electric cart category, there should be something on offer to suit every budget.

A Ton Of Pictures

There are certainly lots of pictures of the carts on the website, and each cart is shown from many different angles, so in terms of seeing what you are getting it certainly ticks that box. However, sometimes the pictures are overcrowded as they are taken in the yard where all the carts are kept. It would have been nice to see a golf course mock up, with just the cart in question shown on green, and maybe with a couple of loaded up shots so you can see how your kit will fit in.

Site Layout Is Lacking

In terms of layout, this is where the site could do better. Unfortunately the whole site has a bit of an amateurish feel. The text is bog standard, and could have done with changing to something nicer. The search results form is very unwieldy and doesn’t do the products justice. What is needed is a style sheet that sets up each cart in a uniform presentation, as these seriously look thrown on. The shipping quote is clunky and ugly and stuck right in the middle of the site, and whilst it is excellent to see each cart from many angles, a constantly changing slideshow would look neater and save the user scrolling around so much. It would add a touch of professionalism, especially if the advice about the picture styling was followed.

The main navigation bars that appear along the top and sides and follow you everywhere are excellent, and these cannot be faulted. They allow the user to move quickly amongst the sections, so no gripes here. It is just the body of the pages. It lacks any design flair, and it is always disappointing to see bog standard Microsoft issues submit and clear buttons on a form, as it gives the impression the site was put together by someone just learning to program on the web. Which is ok but not for a company this size, who clearly see the website as their main showroom.

Checkout Process Needs Improvement

If you decide to purchase a cart, then you should by now have also used the delivery quote form and have a good idea of your shipping costs. However, that is as far as you can go on this site, which again is disappointing if this is their main show room. You then have to call them or email them to register your interest, and we assume the process is then handled from there. They claim this is an anti-Spam measure, but seriously there are other companies offering just as high value goods with an online secure check out. Again, this looks like a startup company that just isn’t confident yet.

Guarantee/Warranty – Left Out?

In terms of warranty information, this just isn’t on the site which to be honest is disappointing, as you would want to know this sort of thing with any mechanical based item you are looking at. They are quick to offer links to their financing company, and you can get details of rentals, although only after you complete yet another no frills Microsoft form.

Conclusion

Overall this is an easy site to navigate, and is full of products for you to view. However, it is such a shame that it doesn’t have a professional flash style site, as there is a huge potential here. It wouldn’t stop us purchasing from the site, as they are clearly cart specialists with knowledge, but if this is to remain their main showroom then it would benefit them greatly to spend some money on a professional web designer who could use this template and create something a little more high impact, as to be honest this site is boring, messy and as we previously noted, amateurish.

We like the ideas, we love the massive range of products and services; however, each cart could benefit more from a full ‘tech spec’ sheet with more information that could easily include warranty details on top of a more complex product review.

Even though I am impartial when it comes to golf cart brands I still have to mention that one of the best websites belong to the EZGO company. Not only do they have a professional looking (and functional) site but they offer tons of great solutions and customization options to their golf carts.

One of their most basic and reliable carts is the TXT Golf Cart. As I said it is a very basic cart without any strange features that you wouldn’t know what to do with. It has room for two people and two golf bags filled with your ping golf clubs.

But what if you want a TXT Golf Cart that isn’t as ordinary as the standard model? Do you have any way to get a professional customized cart based on the TXT model?

You might have already guessed that the answer to that question is “yes”. From the EZGO website you’ll find that but simply contacting your local EZGO golf cart dealer you will receive a customized quote for the modifications you want to your TXT. They have a huge list of things that they can do in-house as well as things that can be made using sub-contractors. You can find the list here: http://www.ezgo.com/innovative_designs.html

One thing that you’ll need to think about before you get into the customization process is that even though a normal EZGO TXT golf cart comes at a reasonable price, you’ll surely be paying a lot more for a customized version and unless you have money to spend you might find the solution to be far more expensive than you had imagined.

As you probably know there are tons of different golf carts available and it can be difficult to choose which one will be the perfect match. I’m going to tell you a little about the Bag Boy golf cart but I also believe that a golf cart is an individual choice and that even though this cart is great it might not be right for you.

I went to the company’s website and found that the have been producing golf carts for more than 54 years. Now I’m sure they didn’t start out producing the bag boy golf cart but somewhere along the way they got a good idea and ran with it.

From one of the press releases they did I can see that they have a few options that they recommend you to have a look at.

Z-2 Stand bag

With the Z-2 Stand Bag you’ll get the Zip-to-Fit™ Removable Pocket System. This will allow you to customize the pockets of the bag to meet your individual needs while still offering the lightest load possible. When you have all the pockets attached, the bag weighs only five pounds.

Lite Rider Cart Bag

The Lite Rider Cart Bag is the lightest cart bag that you’ll find on the market today. The company designed it for the player who pulls or rides a golf cart, yet wants a bag that is lightweight and convenient to transport to and from the course. If you have tried to drag a heavy golf bag around a court for a whole day you know why you want a light bag (or a bag boy golf cart).

To finish off I found this test that I think you should look into. The results of these golf trivia questions are quite surprising.

The Sun Mountain Golf Cart company produces two different push golf cart models. There is the Speed Cart version 1 and the Speed Cart version 2. In 2009 sun Mountain will be offering a new powered model but it has yet to be released so I can’t tell you much about it yet.

From Sun Mountain’s website they state that because of their innovative approach and their never-satisfied looks at things they were the ones that invented the world’s first modern stand bags change the trend from being pull carts to being push carts.

Whether that is true or not is hard to say and if you’re a golfer I don’t think you could even care less. If you’re looking for Sun Mountain golf carts you only need to know that you have two options to choose between. The version 1 and the version 2 cart.

The Speed Golf Cart v1 comes in 7 different colors where as the v2 cart is only created in 3 colors. The biggest different between the two, besides the colors, are the fact that version 2 I made out of aluminum tubing that will make it a stronger and more durable cart.

When looking into the price I found that when you buy these carts from new they’re priced at approximately $200 for Speed Cart version 1 and $270 for Speed Cart version 2. If you’re being hard on your golf cart and want a solution that might last a little longer then does $70 might be very well spent.

Finding Sun Mountain Golf Carts at a Discount

But why would you pay the full price if you were able to get the same golf cart at a 40% – 50% discount?

At Ebay the Sun Mountain Golf Cart v1 is offered at only $136 and that is for a brand new 2008 model. So you don’t even have to get a used cart to get the discount. You can also find used models at below $100 if you really want to go cheap.

Check out Ebay now to get your new golf cart at a discount.

As when looking for any other used golf cart it can be a hassle finding used EZ Go golf carts. Well it might not be a hassle to find a used golf cart but finding the right type and model at a price that should be as low as possible is where efforts are required.

It is no different than hunting for any other used item. The selection is often far more limited than the selection of new carts and most of what you find will seem to be to highly price, in a bad condition or maybe the seller is hundreds of kilometers away.

So if you have decided that you want the EZGO golf cart and maybe you have even decided on a specific model and color then what do you do?

Well you can start off by checking your local papers and maybe even calling your local golf or country club and see whether there is anything up for sale in those places. Chances are rather slim that they have the exact model that you want but you never know. It might be your lucky day.

The Best Place to Find Used EZGO Golf Carts

The wonders of the internet are many and when you’re searching for something like golf carts you are in luck. You might have heard of the online auction house called Ebay and that is the first place I would recommend that you go look for a used golf cart.

There are literally hundreds if not thousands of used carts offered every single day and you can easily find prices that are ridiculously low compared to what things might cost when they’re new.

Go check out ebay now to see if you’re in luck.

Used EZGO Model from Ebay

As an example I found this fairly priced 1999 Freedom 36 volt EZGO golf cart on Ebay. The current bid at the time of writing is $1,550 and compared to the price of most new golf carts ranging from $4,000 to $8,000 that is quite a bargain.

Now when you’re reading this article the offer is probably no longer available but there is most like another one just as good or even better.

I will therefore encourage you to go check out what ebay has to offer when it comes to used Ez Go golf carts. And as an add-on bonus there is also tons of spare parts up for sale at bargain prices.

Click here to check it all out and find your EZGO golf cart today.
